Below is a list of locomotives and railcars that are known to have worked on the Fairford Branch. As the line was a 'yellow' restricted route, the types of motive power that could be seen was fairly restricted, but nevertheless over the full history of the line a surprising variety of traction was used. Locomotives would normally be supplied by Oxford depot (OXF or latterly 81F), and would have to be fitted with ATC equipment, because of the lack of distant signals on the line. This list is very much work in progress, and as details of the locomotives used in the early years in particular are very vague, this will always be an incomplete listing. Any additions would be gratefully received.
